Code Challenge Review Process

Note: If any issues arise with the candidate's second challenge, push it back to them asking for an amendment. It is a good idea, in general, to ask for an edit to see just how well they take feedback and instruction. Make sure to check all items on this list before responding to them with feedback.

• Install and run their project locally
• Ensure that the coding guidelines stated in the Company Standards Repository are strictly followed.
• Functions should be short and concise; make sure there are no large functions
• Ensure that tests are present and not flaky or brittle
• Pick 3 code comments and search for them on Google
  • Make sure that the comment is in quotes so that you can search for that exact phrase
  • This is more of a “code smell” than anything. Plenty of valid candidates copy and paste code from Stack Overflow. If all of the comments come from the same code base, there might be something fishy going on.
• Automatic disqualification
  • No dependencies
