Candidate Vetting
This is a general guide to help with vetting potential candidates. It is by no means an exhaustive list. Like all best practices, there are exceptions that can be discussed if one thinks a candidate should be considered despite the flaws they have.
Threshold Challenge Review
Before candidates even apply, they are asked to complete a simple, yet telling challenge: The Threshold Challenge
Due to the unique challenges of remote work, it is advised that this challenge, or one similar to this, is used; As discovering the candidate's ability to follow instructions and solve a simple version of a problem they'll experience on your team.
This challenge can be completed in 15 minutes or less by someone that knows what they are doing. While at the same time it will be difficult or impossible for a novice to complete without errors.
Here is a link to our document on evaluating common issues that come up in the challenge as well as response phrases to use when addressing the candidate: Flakey Test Threshold Challenge: Evaluation & Responses
Note: All challenges are expected to be completed in adherence to our coding guidelines in the Company Standards Repository.
Candidate Requirements
Each role has a unique set of requirements that are to be followed as closely as possible. We have provided the Candidate requirements for our E2E position below.
Simulation Challenges
Once the candidate's identity is confirmed and hourly rate established, they should then be directed to a paid second challenge that simulates the work they will be doing as an employee.
